Rainer, which by the way it's an incredible book you should pick up. Only $18 on Amazon.

I actually finished reading it last night around 12 midnight. As soon as I finished I craved for more literature (which seldom happens...), I actually to read Essential Church also by Thom S. Rainer but Pastor Eddie hasn't finished reading it..... jajajaja take your time, soak it all in.

Son in my desperation I decided to go on a journey probably every Christian has gone though... except me (and Esteban). The journey I speak to you about is non other than Pastor Rick Warren's 40 Days of Purpose. I discovered I had a copy of the Purpose Driven Life which the book on which the 40 Days of Purpose is based on (...but you already know that).

The book encourages you, well not the book but Pastor Rick Warren (Author), to read a chapter daily; nothing more and definitely nothing less. So I embarked on that journey alongside Esteban and we have not looked back, backpacks are on, hiking shoes nicely tied, Gatorade bottles packed, Nintendo DS fully charged, and bibles wide open. We are just finished with chapter one and we are already pumped up!

What's funny is that the world doesn't even see it coming.

For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and
invisible... everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him.
Colossians 1:16b MSG

Point to Ponder: It's not about me.

Questions to Consider: How can I remind myself today that
life is really about living for God, not myself?

Father, As I begin this journey, help me to realize that building my
life around myself instead of You will only lead to emptiness and meaningless. I
was made by You and for You, and I want to discover my purpose in
You.

Oh if you want in don't hesitate to join just pick up a book, it's only like $10 on Amazon.

Wedding Weekend Wreck!!!

It wasn't a wreck, I'm sorry I lied to you. My reasons are two-fold: 1, all words start with a "W" which I thought was pretty cool, I didn't know when would be the next time I would write about weddings and 2, it's getting harder and harder to get your attention, so I have to come out with creative ways of catching it, and a dramatic title seem logical.... at the moment.... sorry. I know you have forgiven me already so.. read on!

I love this photo, especially the blurry bubbles all around.

Weddings are very tiring, at least for a photographer. Always up and down, picture with mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, from either side, best friends, uncle 1, uncle 2, uncle 3, uncle 4, from both sides. Take a picture with the neighbor, with their kids, now individually with each kid. Group shot, crazy group shot, another group shot 'cause there was people in the bathroom. I might hire someone to JUST do the group shots and I'll do the creative shots jejeje.

But... the reward comes, not with the money because I'm not getting paid for this one (c'mon she's my cousin you heartless people!!), but it comes when I see the photos on my Cinema display :) (huh, Raelene). I look at them while I level them, and color-balance, adjust the exposure, remove green and add some magenta, and I enjoy them, I think stuff like, "Good thing I laid on the floor for that Shot!" or "I thought I was too close but I got it just right" sometimes "Ughhh!! Misa that photo was too straight on, what happened to your creativity-ness!?!?" I honestly believe I'm not THAT good, but my computer screen tells me something else and my God says it even better.

I may hate the group shots but I love photos, so here's to a long-lasting relationship with me and my camera (it's illegal to marry but we decided to be the best of friends)

By the way, those are not the Newly Weds, I have not ask permission from them to upload their photos to my Flick (btw just click on the photo and it'll take you straight to my Flick), those are my uncles. Very cool people. He's technically our uncle but life's shown it different at times, older cousin best defines our relationship, a good one at that.

Always remember the old mantra: "Say Cheese!!"

An Open Letter to Christian Creatives (Collide Magazine)

I found this article/letter online and would to share it with the world, and the closest thing I got to a world-wide publication is this humble blog available to everyone to read as they please. :)

An Open Letter to Christian Creatives
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about creatives who exist in the church—people who create their church’s videos, design and maintain their church’s websites, lighting and stage directors and artists, and musicians. There are so many things I want to say to you, but haven’t.

Until now.

I guess I want to make this simple statement first and foremost: After watching people like you for years and years, I want you to know that the stuff you create doesn’t matter as much as you think it does. After years of experience, I’ve come to the conclusion that the artistic designs you engage in may only marginally impact someone’s life. I know that’s a very blunt statement, but someone needs to say what everyone else is already thinking.

I wonder if it all starts at the top of the food chain? I wonder if the lead pastor and executive staff team have sold creatives (like us) a bogus bill of goods? They’ve told us that the stuff we create every week has the potential to change lives. But just be honest for a minute. Can you actually name someone whose life has been changed as a result of your craft? I doubt it.

Advertisements
You awake in the middle of the night with creative ideas, mixed with the stress of deadlines you can’t possibly meet. You’ve ignored, or even dropped the most important relationships in your life. You stay late at the church office, and no one knows, or even really cares. And all for what? All to create and maintain art in the desperate hope that someone’s life will be impacted?

Really?

And what about this obsession with beauty? You uphold beauty like it’s the gateway to God Himself. God only communicates His presence through His written Word. He has chosen never to communicate through any other means - His Word even says so. Again, my greatest fear is that you’ve been sold a bill of goods that simply doesn’t produce over the long term.

And so here’s what I really want you to hear and meditate on: Easter is coming. It’s the biggest day of the church year. Over the next few days, your schedule will be taken with creative meetings that you don’t want to be a part of; with pastoral conflict at the highest levels; and with late nights away from the people you love. You are preparing for something that will come and go in a heartbeat. By the time you’re Easter services are over, most of the people will be at brunch, arguing about the choice of music, or the pastor’s sermon.

And I’ve just gotta ask this most obvious question: Why labor in vain?

Wouldn’t you be a better steward of your church’s financial resources if you didn’t put as much time and effort into one weekend? There’s a time to know when “good enough” is “good enough,” and it might be a good time for you to back off of any unrealistic expectations you have of creative beauty, and to simply declare “good enough.”

Will this Easter change lives? Probably. But do you need to take any of the responsibility for setting up an environment for that to occur? In my experience, the answer is a resounding “no.” Let God be God. He will do whatever He wants.

I openly invite this conversation to continue.

Yours truly.

Satan

The link to this article and many others are found at <a I had started doing concept logos for a name that stuck to me: Genesis One. The name obviously inspired by the first chapter of the book of Genesis:

"1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was [a] formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters..."
God created the heavens and the earth so I deeply believe that even if you don't believe that we are the cause for Global Warming of that such doesn't even exist, we still need to "Care for Creation."

What do you guys think? I am right? Wrong? Weird?

<img Have you ever felt that? You know that feeling?

Well that's the feeling I get with church. Kinda.

I was waiting for something to happen at church, I think all us were. And sure enough The Experience came about, it was like a drink of fresh water. A rejuvenating force.

Awesome things are happening at The Experience. But Chris Tomlin puts it best, "Greater things are yet to come." And they are nigh! Stay tuned, and I'll fill you in with all "need to know" info of the Experience. I could say more but I rather you find out on your own, don't take my word for it, join us!

*The Experience is the english speaking congregation at Christian Center of National City. We have our celebrations at 9:30 am on Sundays at Christian Center of National City, located at 125 Palm Ave., National City, CA 91950. I love rain! I was having a blast this week, driving at 30 mph on the freeway, cars passing by me and splashing water all over my windshield, tree branches blocking the interstate, couldn't see 10 feet from the hood of the car, rain sounding like machine guns against steel covered trailer... amazing! He might be right, some details might have been removed and left out, like the fact that my favorite color was Purple for major part of my life… but that was because (and if you really know me this very apparent) I am a geek… yes, yes this might come as a surprise to some but I really connected with Billy,

the blue Power Ranger, because he was the nerdy one jajaja, I also considered myself an inventor, opening up every electronic item I could get my hands on (almost getting there on the whole purple thing). I think almost everyone my age or a 5-year radius was into the Ninja Turtles (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, TMNT) and everyone was either:

Leonardo- Role/Character: Leader; Weapon of Choice: A pair of Katanas (swords); Color of Mask: Blue

Raphael- Role/Character: Anti-Social Bad Boy; Weapon of Choice: A pair of Sais; Color of Mask: Red

Michelangelo- Role/Character: “Party Dude,” and Comic-Relief; Weapon of Choice: A pair of Nunchaku (numchucks)

Nobody wanted to be:

Donatello- "The brilliant scientist, inventor, engineer, and technological genius. He is perhaps the least violent Turtle, preferring to use his intellect to solve conflicts. He wears a purple mask and wields the bō."*

I felt I connected with Donatello so I embraced everything he stood for… even his color which led to my many “gay” insults by my big brother, but I’m over it… I think… I hope so… regardless I know it’s in God’s hands jajaja

I know this did not directly continue my story but you learned about Ninja Turtles! Yay!

Also... leave comments it helps my self-esteem jajaja

*http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_turtle<div The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

I love and enjoy my job at church; not just because I work with Eddie (jajaja). It’s exciting, frustrating, exhilarating, tiresome, fulfilling and tedious all at the same time. And for those who don’t know what I do: I am the Graphic Artist at Christian Center of National City. I design flyers, posters, tickets, biz cards and everything Eddie comes up with. I design for the Dorcas, Varones, Juniors, Youth, The Experience and the Church as a whole (it’s gets overwhelming at times). I am also the Creative Director and Guitar Coordinator at the Experience, which I profoundly enjoy, being under Pastor Eddie’s wing that is. I have my own office (space) with my own personal Mac Pro with a 30” Flat screen (that I share) that requires me to take a break every 10 minutes, jajaja jk.

But all this did not come easy. It took time and development. It took patience and obedience. It took Determination and vision.

An thus the story begins...

I was small and I loved drawing, but I lacked focus. I would start something passionately but finish quickly or quit for I would loose interest. My second grade teacher would loose her temper on me, I still remember her name: Ms. Pichardo, she was old and mean so I knew why she was still a miss. She would call conference after conference with my mom because I would not take pride in my work and I would finish quickly to get the fake money she would give for finishing first. She gave us once a picture of 8 flowers; you know the typically black lines on a brownish-grayish recycled paper [ok, one thing about… I hate (or extremely dislike) coloring jajaja). Well she provided 8 flowers and 9 Crayola color crayons (you remember?): red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and black. I went through the first 7 but when I got to the 8th flower I ran out of “real” colors and left with white and black, I was not going to reuse another color (at the time it seemed obvious to me) and I wasn’t going to use white on a “white” background so I used black. Well, grumpy Ms. Pichardo went off at me and immediately scheduled a parent conference with my mom denouncing me as a emotionally disturbed child because I colored a black flower… a little off topic there. Jajaja

When I lived in TJ my parents saw my love for art and drawing displayed on the walls of our home. While they were pleased that they bore a creative child they felt lead to redirect my talent towards a different canvas. My parents signed me up for art classes at the Casa de la Cultura, I was in 1st grade and 6 years old, my first artistic training.

Right before 3rd grade my family went through a hard economic time and had to leave our home in Tijuana to go live with my grandparents in Chula Vista, California in one bedroom. My dad moved to Arizona to work for my uncle and was not with us for over a year, communicating to us only through cards of goofy and Winnie pooh. I missed him; I wanted my dad back. I would ask my mom who would build me my easel? Who was going to take me to art classes?

The day he came back I experienced my first “happy tears” as I called them. I couldn’t explain them, I was extremely happy yet I was crying. My dad was home and the way he made it up was… signing me up for cartoon drawing classes, ofcourse that made my day.

4th grade was here and I was the star of my class. I knew how to draw spider-man and batman. I could draw my classmates in capes. I drew Goku and Gohan. I drew Pikachu and Ash Ketchum. 5th grade passed and my popularity grew and grew, everyone knew me, I was the school artist. My dad signed me up for watercoloring classes and off I was towards my still-life endeavors. My aunt asked to buy one of my paintings to hang on her wall. I refused, but was still grateful that my art was considered worthy of exhibition.

As I graduated, or promoted, from elementary to middle school, I left a legacy. In P.E. my younger brother was selected first for soccer teams because he was the brother of “Misael.”

…that was half of my artistic story, return for the next half, or not, completely up to you. I on the other hand have to come back because I have made a commitment to you, I will provide you the next exhilarating chapter of this story-o-mine.

-Misa
Follow me

Middle Child Syndrom

I found this article and I feel I could refelct...

The middle or second born child or children often have the sense of not belonging. They fight to receive attention from parents and others because they feel many times they are being ignored or dubbed off as being the same as another sibling. Being in the middle a child can feel insecure. The middle child often lacks drive and looks for direction from the first born child. Sometimes a middle child feels out of place because they are not over achievers and like to go with the flow of things.

Being a middle child would mean they are loners. They really don’t like to latch on to a person in a relationship, there fore they have trouble keeping one due to lack of interest. Not liking to take the limelight for anything, they are not over achievers and just simply work enough work to get by, and typically that goes with school as well as a career. They are however very artistic and creative. If forced to use abilities they will work well, but do not work well under pressure. They often start several projects but rarely keep focused long enough to finish a project. The best career move for a middle child would be along the lines of using their creative. Going into a writing or journalism career, and into a career that they could freely express themselves would be good. Anything that would have hours that are flexible, and projects that frequently changed would be good for a middle born child. Since relationships are not of high importance to a middle child, often times they are alone. However, the best possible match for a middle child would be a last born.

Cold Play is almost Christian... Come as much as you can to pray, I know it’s hard, it’s a challenge but exactly because of that we should do it, we should undertake life together in prayer. I can hardly pray 15 minutes sometimes, I run out of words or wonder off, but I still come, to challenge myself, I still kneel on this carpet. How can I grow intimate with God if I never attempt to talk to Him? How can I call Him friend if I never “hang out” with Him?

My mom urged me to go to Morning Prayer at 6am (I know it’s not 5am like Eddie but that’s early for me) I was reluctant at first. I wasn’t going to get my 8 hours of sleep!!! Jajajaja I thought I would fall asleep praying when my mind started wondering off. But I decided to give it a try, because everyone at church is talking about how “incredible” it is, Eddie keeps on saying how blessed he gets, but I thought it was just to get you to go. So I woke up and dropped my bro at work and went to church for prayer and I was amazed at how many people get up that early. I prayed and read the word, which was truly a blessing; God spoke to me through these verses:
Amos 21: 24 (MSG), which Eddie shared with me:
“I can’t stand your religious meetings. I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions. I want nothing to do with your religion projects, your pretentious slogans and goals.
I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making. I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music. When was the last time you sang to me? Do you know what I want? I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
That’s what I want. That’s all I want.
Sometimes we get so emerged in the program but…. The 3rd Hagiazo Apparel shirt (GO out and buy one at your local Hagiazo Apparel Store :) jajaja)

BUT before you scroll down and look at the shirt I want to show you how this shirt came to be...

First, I wasn't even thinking of making a Hagiazo shirt, I was trying to make a logo for future Hagiazo Youth Movement ministry called H.E.A.R.T., which stands for Hagiazo Evangelism And Reconciliation Team. This team would go with Pastor Eddie wherever he went to help him evangelize and stuff, Here's the initial sketches:

You can see on the top left-hand corner the initial idea and it just went another way... because I felt it didn't really work, the "T" killed it for me, but I couldn't take it off because then it would be H.E.A.R. and... that is obviously something else...

Weeks (or days) later I quickly sketched the word Hagiazo to see if it worked and...

I liked it and quickly went to my Mac and worked out the rest of the design on Illustrator..
We sent it out to print with some difficulty because the colors were too bright to actually be printed because it was designed in RGB (Red, Green, Blue) but it needed to designed in CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and K-Black). So... I had to tone the colors down with a little hesitation from me and Eddie. But we still ordered them, a risky move, but a must for two entrepreneurs jajajaja. We just had to wait ten LONG days....

We finally got and email yesterday saying that the shirts were printed, so we went today to pick them up!!

And they were there ready for us to pick up! We are excited and hope you are too. So buy 'em, buy 'em, buy 'em!! Support Hagiazo Apparel!

We will be selling them today at Open Your Mouth @ 7pm and tomorrow and any time you see me or Eddie
Chirtian Center of National City
125 Palm Ave
National City, CA 91950

Until next time...

The Rock Church

The Rock Church, originally uploaded by Misaruiz.

We went to visit The Rock Church today at 7pm, it was sikk!!
